Should Your Beard Be Longer or Shorter in the Spring?

Now that the weather is about to transform from dreary winter into gentle spring, a lot of guys are wondering what they should do to get their beards ready for the new season ahead.  One question we get asked a lot is whether or not a guy’s beard should be longer or shorter during the mild spring months.

The Answer: It Depends

As you might have guessed, there’s no objective answer when it comes to whether you should maintain a long beard during the spring season or cut it shorter.  Allow us to break down the three factors worth taking into consideration before deciding what you’d like to do about your facial hair.

Factor #1: Your Preferred Length

How long do you want your beard to be?  There’s no rule that says you have to chop off your beard when the weather gets warm or keep it long throughout a certain part of the year.  Ultimately, you can do whatever you want with your beard.

Factor #2: How Far into Springtime it Is

One thing to consider is where during the spring season you are.  Earlier on in the spring, the weather is still a bit chilly, especially in the mornings and evenings.  Therefore, you might want to hang onto that length to keep your face warm.  Later on, you may find that the weather is so warm that having a thick, long beard is uncomfortable.

Factor #3: Your Beard Type

Your beard type can also play a big role.  One thing is that some guys find that their beards become frizzy in the later spring months when the heat and humidity rise.  Therefore, they choose to cut it shorter so that it maintains a neat and tidy look.  Other guys find that their fine, thin beards get some nice volume in the spring months as humidity rises, and so they enjoy keeping a long beard throughout the season.
